Bixie vs pixie vs bob: the real difference

The pixie

The pixie is the shortest of the three: cropped close at the sides and back, with texture on top. Bold, low-maintenance, and the least forgiving as it grows out.

The bob

The bob is the longest: a clean line that sits at or below the jaw, usually with minimal layering. Polished and classic, but it can feel heavy without texture.

The bixie

The bixie takes the pixie’s texture and the bob’s length and meets in the middle. Shorter than a bob, longer and softer than a pixie. How smoothly a cut grows out depends on its starting shape, your hair’s growth patterns and maintenance. A bixie’s longer sections may offer flexibility as you move toward a bob.

Which should you pick

Want drama and edge? Pixie. Want polish and versatility? Bob. Want a blend of short-cut texture and longer face-framing pieces? Consider a bixie. See all three side by side in our photo collections.
